Send a receipt for a payment
Email the customer a receipt for cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, bank or card payments you record.
When you record a payment on an invoice, Utopia can email the customer a receipt from your business.
Before you start
- The payment must be recorded on the invoice. See Take a payment.
- The customer needs an email address. You can type one in if none is on file.
Send it when you record the payment
- Open the invoice and tap Record payment.
- Fill in the payment.
- Leave Email a receipt on. It's on when the customer has an email on file. Change the address if you need to.
- Tap the button that says Record and shows the amount.
Send it later, or again
- Open the invoice.
- Under Payments, tap Send receipt under the payment. If one already went out, it shows the address it went to. Tap that to send again.
- Check the address, add a note if you like, and tap Send receipt.
The receipt shows what they paid, the tip, how they paid, the date, and what's left or Paid in full, with a button to view the invoice. It has your business name, logo and button colour. The invoice's History lists each receipt sent.
Online card payments
When a customer pays online, Stripe or Square emails the receipt, so Utopia doesn't send a second one. Those payments say the card processor sent it.
Didn't work?
The receipt didn't send
The payment is still recorded. Tap Send receipt under the payment to try again, and check the email address.
I don't see Send receipt
Online card payments don't have it, because the card processor sends their receipt. A void invoice has no receipts.
Can I text the receipt?
Not yet. Receipts go by email.
