Text your customers

Texting is built in and free on every plan. Four automatic texts work from day one, even before your business has its own number.

The automatic texts

• Booking confirmation: when a booking is confirmed.
• Day-before reminder: the day before a visit, between 9 am and 6 pm.
• On my way: when someone taps On my way, with a link to see where they are.
• Invoice link: when you send an invoice, with the link to pay.

Every text starts with your business name and ends with "Reply STOP to unsubscribe".

These are texts about a visit, so they go to everyone. Marketing texts, like offers and review asks, only go to people who agreed to them. See Get permission for marketing texts.

Which number they come from

Until your own number is verified, these texts go out from Utopia's notification line. That line only sends: if a customer replies, they get one text saying to contact you directly, and you see "replied to an automatic text" on their record. Once your own number is on, every text comes from it and replies reach you in Customers → Texts. See Get your texting number.

Turn one off

1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Text messages.
2. Under Automatic texts, switch off the one you don't want. People who manage business settings can change these.

See what was texted

Open a customer and choose Activity, or open the job. Under Texts you see each text, when it went out, whether it was delivered, and which number sent it.

STOP, START and HELP

• A customer who replies STOP to your number gets no more texts from your business until they reply START. A STOP to your number never affects another business.
• HELP gets your business name and how to reach you.

Didn't work?

A customer didn't get a text

They may have replied STOP, the text may wait for 8 am, the switch may be off, or the number on their record may be wrong.

I see "Text from my phone"

No number can send that text yet. Tap it to send the same words from your own phone; Utopia sends nothing.
