Add a customer

Add each person you work with so their cars, jobs, quotes and invoices stay in one place. Only a first name is needed. You can fill in the rest later.

Steps

1. On Home, tap New, then Add customer. Or go to Customers and tap Add customer. On your phone, Customers is under More.
2. Type their First name. Add a Last name if you have it.
3. Add a Phone and Email. Utopia formats the phone number for you.
4. Under Car, type the Year, Make and Model, and pick the Size. This is optional. The car is saved to their Vehicles tab.
5. Start typing the street under Address and pick it from the list. City, state and ZIP fill in for you.
6. Under Status, pick where this person is. Leads haven't booked yet. Customers have.
7. For a lead, you can type What they might spend, like 265. It's a rough guess, and you can leave it empty.
8. Under Details, add how they found you, tags or Notes, like a gate code or pets.
9. Tap Create customer.

A message pops up with Book a job, Add their car and Open. Tap one to keep going, or let it close.

Add a car later

1. Open the customer's page and tap the Vehicles tab.
2. Tap Add their car.
3. Type the Year, Make, Model and Color, and pick the Size, like Sedan, SUV or Truck. The size sets the price on their jobs.
4. Under Optional details, add the VIN, Mileage or License plate, only if you track them.
5. Tap Add car.

To change a car, tap it on the Vehicles tab, change what you need and tap Save changes. Delete car removes it, and Service history shows its past jobs.

You can also add the car while you book their job. Tap New vehicle in the job form. See Book a job.

Other ways to add someone

• When you book a job, tap New customer right inside the job form.
• Have a long list? Import your customers instead of typing them one by one.

Didn't work?

The Create customer button is gray

Type a first name. If you picked Other under Found you through, also type where they found you in the box below it.

It says the email isn't valid

Check the email for typos and spaces, or leave it blank and add it later.

I don't see What they might spend

It shows only for leads, and only for people allowed to see money.
