Show customers who's coming

When you tap On my way, your customer sees your photo, first name, vehicle and where you are on a map, and you can message them without seeing their number.

When someone on your team taps On my way, the customer gets an email from your business (and a text once texting is set up) with a link. It shows the technician's photo, first name, the vehicle to look for and where they are on a map. The same card shows in the customer's portal.

Add your photo and vehicle

  1. Go to Team and open your page (owners and managers can open anyone's).
  2. Under What customers see, tap Edit.
  3. Add a clear photo of your face and your vehicle's make, model, color and plate.
  4. Tap Save.

On the job

  1. Open the job and tap On my way. The first time, a notice explains what the customer sees: tap Share my location. Allow your phone to share its location. Only your latest spot is kept, and it's gone when the trip ends or after 3 hours.
  2. Keep the job page open while you drive. The map updates about every 15 seconds.
  3. Tap Start job when you arrive. Sharing stops by itself.

Sharing also stops when the job is completed or cancelled, when you tap Stop sharing, or after 3 hours. Only your latest position is kept, never a history of where you drove.

Message the customer

On the job, tap a quick update like I'm here, or write your own and tap Send. It goes out from your business by email (and text when set up) and shows in their portal. Replies show on the job. You never see the customer's phone number or email, and the owner can read every message.

Turn it on or off

  1. Go to Settings, then Who's coming.
  2. Use the switches: Show customers who's coming, Show last names too (off, so customers see "Alex", not "Alex Rivera") and Let technicians message customers.
  3. Tap Save.

Didn't work?

The map doesn't move

The job page has to stay open on your phone. Phones stop sharing from a web page when the screen locks. If it says location is off, allow location for Utopia in your browser settings, then tap Share location.

The customer didn't get a text

Texts need texting set up for your business. Until then they get the email and the portal card.

The link only works while you're on the way, and for 3 hours at most.
